When you receive your Lopay card reader, it's essential to link it to your Lopay account.

Watch our instructional video here for a visual demonstration, or follow the step-by-step guide below.

Please be aware that the card reader may require an update upon initial connection, which could take up to 10 minutes. Please ensure your card reader is charging to help this update to complete.

1. Connecting your card reader

  1. Ensure your phone bluetooth is turned on

  2. Open your Lopay app and select the 'My Devices' tile on the app home page. Then select 'Connect my card reader'.

  3. Turn on your card reader. You'll then see the name of the card reader, "WisePad 3," displayed at the bottom of your Lopay app screen. Select this option to proceed. Android users may also encounter a Bluetooth pairing request; please ensure to select Pair.

Pro Tip: If there are multiple WisePad 3 card readers nearby, verify the 'HW No.' located on the back of the card reader. This number should start with 'WPC...'

2. Taking a payment

Once successfully connected, head to the Charge page (2nd icon at the bottom of the app) to take a payment. Enter an amount, press 'Charge', and select 'send to card reader' from the available payment method options.

For frequent card reader transactions, 'Send to card reader' will automatically replace 'Charge,' streamlining the payment process into a single step. For further details, click here.

Your customer can then tap or insert their contactless card or utilize Apple Pay or Google Pay if enabled on their device.

Pro Tip: Always wait for the 'payment successful' notification in the Lopay app before allowing your customer to leave, this ensures that the payment has completed successfully!

Please note: A card reader can only be connected to one phone at a time - but you can download the Lopay app on different devices and connect to the same card reader at different times. Just be sure to disconnect from one before trying to connect to another.

3. Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble connecting your card reader, please see the articles below or get in touch with Support via the chat icon in the app:

Pro Tip: You need to connect the card reader via the Lopay app and not your phone's bluetooth settings! If you've already attempted to pair it this way, please select "forget this device" and proceed with the steps outlined below instead.
