When you receive your Lopay card reader, you'll need to link it to your Lopay account.

Warning! Do not use your mobile device's Bluetooth settings to pair your reader. If you have, please select "forget this device" and follow the steps below instead.

Watch our short video here to see this in action or follow the steps below. Please note, that the reader may need to update when you first connect it - this can take up to 10 minutes, so connect your charging cable to help the update complete.

Step 1:

Tap the My Devices tile on the home page of the Lopay app, then Reader connection.

Step 2:

Turn your card reader on.

The name of the card reader "WisePad 3" will then appear - select this to proceed. Android users will also see a Bluetooth pairing request - please, select Pair.

Please note: If there are multiple WisePad 3 card readers around then check the 'HW No.' on the back of the card reader. This number should start with 'WPC...'

Step 3:

Once connected, go to the Charge page (2nd icon on the bottom of the app), enter the relevant payment amount and press 'Charge'.

Select 'send to card reader' from the options of payment methods.

If you frequently take payments via the card reader, 'Send to card reader' will automatically replace 'Charge' to make sending a payment one step rather than two, for more information on this click here.

Your customer can then tap or insert their contactless card or hold their phone to the card reader if they have enabled Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Please always wait for the green 'payment successful' screen in the Lopay app before the customer leaves to be sure the payment has been completed.

Please note: A card reader can only be connected to one phone at a time - but you can download the Lopay app on different devices and connect to the same card reader at different times. Just be sure to disconnect from one before trying to connect to another.

If you are having trouble connecting your card reader, please see the articles below or get in touch with Support via the chat icon in the app:
